Primary 2a

Term 1 has been very busy for our class!

In maths we have been learning how to add and subtract up to 100 and tell the time to o'clock and half past. We really enjoy trying to beat each others scores on our favourite game, Stop the Clock!

Language has seen us learning lots of new sounds. We use them to spell words, to play games and during active spelling. Our favourite spelling activity is Buried Treasure Phonics on the Smartboard.

PE is lots of fun and helps us to keep fit and active. We have learned games such as Beans, Port Starboard and Tunnel Tig. Mrs Ayres has been teaching us throwing and catching skills with different sized balls and bean bags, while Mrs Smith has been teaching us lots of different movements in creative dance lessons based on Peter Pan.

Our topic on dinosaurs has been very exciting! We have learned all about their names and characteristics, such as which dinosaurs are herbivores and carnivores. In writing we wrote a great poem all about them!

Hopscotch Theatre came in to visit us and did a fantastic performance all about the SHANARRI indicators. The children learned 2 fabulous songs – We Got the Rights and Hello Blue Sky (SHANARRI).

We also had a visit from the Cash Cubs to promote saving money through the Renfrewshire Credit Union.

Mrs Smith, Mrs Ross and Primary 2a hope you have a wonderful October Holiday!

Fractions

We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks learning about fractions. We really enjoyed completing the activities and working on the computer!

Kick-Start

Primary 7 ran a great Kick-Start sponsored event this month which we all took part in. It was great exercising with the mums and dads, thank you to all who attended. It gave us lots of ideas for new exercises to do in PE lessons!

Money Week

The whole school enjoyed participating in money week this term. One of the highlights was a class visit to see how the Credit Union works – it was really interesting!

Technology Topic

Our topic this term is Inventors Throughout History. We learned lots of different and interesting facts about them such as who invented the telephone and how music technology has advanced over the years. We had an opportunity to see, compare and contrast items such as a record player with an I-Pod and a floppy disc with a pen drive. Hopefully everyone is working very hard on their solo talks as both Mrs Smith and Mrs Ross are looking forward to listening to them!

Easter Disco

We all had lots of fun at the Easter Disco!

Red Nose Day

We all dressed in our comfy sporty clothes and took part in a danceathon for Red Nose Day. Well done to everyone who took part and helped to raise money!

The theme this year was put on
a funny face - here are some of ours!
