World of Work Week - Paramedic

Today we had a visit from a familiar face - Eilidh, our Hearstart trainer. She is a Paramedic who specialises in Neo-Natal transport. This means that when a baby is born too early and needs moved to a special hospital she goes to get them. She told us a story about flying to Lewis in a Sea-King helicopter to collect a very small baby. They couldn't take much equipment in the helicopter (not even an incubator) so when they got the baby they had to wrap it in a bubble-wrap envelope, then a towel, then put it inside Eilidh's fleece during the flight to keep it warm!

Thank you for taking the time to come and talk to us Eilidh.

World of Work Week - Police Officers.

Yesterday we had a visit from 2 Police Officers for World of Work Week. They explained all about their uniform, their equipment and their role in the community. The best part of their visit was that they let us try on their brightly coloured jackets and their black hats - dont we look cool?!

Measuring fun!

We have been learning all about measuring objects with a metre stick for the last couple of weeks. Today we worked with partners to choose objects to measure in the classroom and breakout space. It was a lot of fun!

Burns Day

For Burns Day we learned some Scottish Country Dances. We worked with Room 5 to learn some dances then we taught them to some boys and girls in Primary 1. Our favourite dance was definitely the progressive St Bernard's Waltz, we were very good at it! Wec also learned a Scottish poem called "The Dentist" by JK Annand. Eva, Zak and Olivia were so good at it that they got to read it at the special Burns assembly and each recieved a certificate.
